Desde su nacimiento en el año 1926 la televisión marcó un hito en la historia. La posibilidad de no sólo escuchar, sino de poder ver transmisiones en vivo a través de una pantalla, revolucionó la comunicación. Hasta que en 1983 llega internet, un invento que sobrepasa las barreras que frenaban a la televisión de ese entonces.
Hoy en día ambas plataformas han evolucionado de tal forma que es imposible negar la guerra que ha surgido por quien lidera los índices de consumo a nivel mundial, y tras años de ser la televisión el medio preferido por el público, por primera vez en la historia internet toma el dominio.
La firma Zenith reveló recientemente información que sin duda será de sumo interés para las marcas, por primera vez se llegó al punto de inflexión en el que el consumo de internet superó al consumo de televisión a nivel global. Según los datos mostrados, en lo que va del año el consumo promedio de internet logró situarse en los 170 minutos por persona al día, mientras que en el caso de la televisión se redujo a 167 minutos.

Ante este nuevo contexto, en el cual internet es el nuevo líder en consumo, en el caso de las marcas que habitualmente usaban en su mayoría la televisión para anunciarse, ahora darán mayor enfoque a internet. Se espera que para 2021 la inversión de los anunciantes sea acaparado en mayor medida por internet con un 52%, mientras que para la televisión Zenith estima que se reduzca a un 27%.
Finalmente, es importante poner énfasis en que el incremento de consumo de internet se da por la facilidad que tiene de encontrarse en diferentes formatos, tanto en dispositivos móviles como en equipos de escritorio.
