Twitter no crece en usuarios, pero eso no detiene a la empresa a seguir implementando soluciones para la plataforma. Una reciente adquisición ha levantado las alertas en Silicon Valley, pues le permitiría a la empresa de Jack Dorsey tener recursos suficientes para incursionar en el formato “Stories”, la popular estrategia de Facebook y Snapchat para permitir a los usuarios publica contenido efímero en formato vertical.
Kayvon Beykpour, jefe de producto en Twitter, anunció en la plataforma la adquisición de “Chroma Labs”, un startup fundada en 2018 por exempleados de Facebook e Instagram; y que integra figuras como el creador del famoso efecto “Boomerang”, Josh Barnett, y el jefe de ingenieros en Instagram Stories, Alex Li.
La app Chroma Stories, desarrollada por la firma, es una herramienta disponible en App Store que permite añadir detalles de color y texto a las historias de Instagram y Snapchat. Tras esta adquisición, Chroma Labs dará de baja su producto en la tienda de aplicaciones. Si la has descargado podrás usarla sin problemas, pero no podrás actualizarla.
En un comunicado publicado en el sitio web de la compañía, Chroma Labs menciona que seguirán dando soporte a los creadores de contenido en diferentes plataformas: “Durante el año pasado, permitimos que creadores y empresas de todo el mundo creen millones de historias con la aplicación Chroma Stories. Estamos orgullosos de este trabajo y esperamos continuar nuestra misión a mayor escala, con uno de los servicios más importantes del mundo”.
